How Omega-3 Fatty Acids Improves The Heart Health of Seniors?

Omega-3 Benefits for heart health of seniors

The study reveals that omega-3 fatty acids found in seafood like tuna or salmon can reduce the risk of heart disease and improve the heart health of seniors.

Seniors taking regular doses of omega-3 fatty acids tend to experience lower blood triglyceride levels. This type of fat is mostly found in seniors’ blood which in turn is used for energy. However, consuming too much of it can have adverse effects and can increase the risk of heart disease among seniors.

Here are some other ways in which omega-3 fatty acids can benefit and improve the heart health of seniors.

Power of Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Reduces inflammation

The primary benefit of omega-3 fatty acids is that it reduces inflammation throughout the seniors body and improves seniors heart health. Otherwise, it can cause damage to blood vessels and can make seniors prone to disease.

Reducing Triglycerides

High levels of triglycerides, a type of fat in the blood, are associated with an increased risk of heart disease. Omega-3 fatty acids are known to significantly reduce triglyceride levels, thus lowering the risk of heart-related issues.

Regulates blood pressure

Seniors aged 65 or above commonly experience hypertension which in turn can cause strain on their heart. Fortunately, seniors can lower down this risk by taking omega-3 fatty acids.

Improves cholesterol

These fatty acids can raise HDL (good cholesterol) levels while having a slight effect on lowering LDL (bad cholesterol) levels, promoting a healthier balance.

Best Fish For Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Health care for seniors is a must. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in particular fatty fish and seafood. Besides fish and seafood, numerous plant-based oils, nuts, seeds, and beans also contain omega-3 fatty acids.

Some good options for Omega-3 fatty acids include Sardines, salmon, striped bass, bluefin tuna, black cod, herring, and lake Trout. You can also take omega-3 fatty acids from plant-based sources.
