Second Heart Attack in Palm Beach Seniors: Reducing the risk

A heart attack is a life-changing event for many especially for seniors in Palm Beach County. Most people, including seniors, wish not to have a heart attack repeatedly. But the reality is that if a senior had a heart attack previously, the chances of getting heart failure for the second time increase.

The research reveals that one in five heart attack patients is likely to have a second heart attack in the next five years.

Consequently, here are some tips to lower seniors’ risk of a second heart attack and improve seniors health care in this blog outlined below.

Lowering The Risk of Second Heart Attack For Seniors In Palm Beach County

Healthy diet

The best way to reduce seniors’ chances of developing another heart failure is to give them a heart-healthy diet. Most of the doctors recommend giving a DASH diet to seniors in Palm Beach County which includes fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Also, limit sugar and saturated fat in seniors’ meals.

Manage health conditions

Health-related conditions such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol are important to manage as these are directly linked to seniors’ heart health.

Keep stress in control

Ensure that seniors in Palm Beach County do not feel much stress about things as it increases the likelihood of heart failure. The best way to manage stress among seniors is to ask them to take a walk in the park or journal before they retire to bed.

Seek support

Ask the senior’s care team to be always near to them. Besides this, make sure that all seniors’ loved ones such as family members, relatives, friends, and others support seniors’ new heart-healthy lifestyle and support seniors in making certain changes.

Exercise daily

Even if seniors have mobility issues or health conditions, ask seniors in Palm Beach County to do moderate exercise for around 30 minutes a day. This could be a simple walk, or stretching. Make sure to ask a senior physician before asking seniors to do exercise.
